This sweet, little needle case comes together super quickly all while teaching you the fundamental elements of quilting. Milwaukee artist and quilter Heidi Parkes demonstrates how to stitch up an easy, playful case for needles and pins that is essentially a mini quilt folded in half with a snap. Teaching three basic stitches and three knots, this hand-sewn case exhibits customizable applique and makes a delightful gift to send through the mail to fellow stitchers.

Here’s what you’ll need:
- One 6" x 8" piece of fabric - Heidi is using woven cotton
- One 4" x 6" piece of felt
- Small scrap of fabric, about 2" in diameter
- Scissors, or cutting mat & rotary cutter
- Thimbles, pushing and pulling
- Small embroidery hoop, 3"-5"
- Needle, Heidi likes the Dritz milliner's multi-pack
- Thread, Heidi is using DMC pearl size 8
- Sew-on snap, any size
- Clips or pins
- Thread snips

Downloads:
- Thread and knot a needle with a quilters knot
- Use the whip stitch to appliqué a small piece of fabric
- Use pushing and gripping thimbles
- Fold a mitered corner in fabric and sew with a ladder stitch
