A really inspiring class! I enjoyed getting to know so many different artists. The teacher really showed how you can be inspired by different artists.
This was a great class! Very educational and I like that she chose some BIPOC women. For Lorna's artwork with the hair theme, it made me wonder if there was some cultural and racial statement. I've heard that there's been some real and/or perceived pressure for black people to have hair more like a white person, which is sad.
Erin provides a brief synoopsis of historical women artists, along with a fun and easy jumping-off point for creating a singular motif that represents each artist's style at a certain point on her career. I really enjoyed the approach; the intermingling of the historical context with the contemporary artist's view point using current products and techniques.
What a geat class! I now have both books to purchase (in my wish list), as well as museums to visit in order to understand these artists, and enjoy their work in full.
