Yarn: Six colors of worsted-weight yarn - Melanie uses Color by Kristin (50% wool, 25% alpaca, and 25% mohair;  50g/93yds)

Needles: U.S. 7  or size needed to obtain gauge; U.S. 5 for basket-weave stitch 

Gauge: 4 stitches and 5 rows = 1 inch on larger needles in stockinette stitch
