My paternal grandmother was a professional seamstress and my mother sewed a lot as well. I learned needlework and sewing skills from my grandmother and my mother walked me through applying those skills. As a teen, I sewed all my own clothes, including coats, transitioned to sewing mostly costumes for my children, and now sew primarily for my grandchildren, and occasionally, for me!
