Tunisian crochet is one of the least-known yarn crafts but is a fun skill to have in your fiber arts toolkit. Somewhat of a cross between knitting and crocheting, it uses a long crochet hook that allows you to work with multiple live loops at once. Though the technique feels like crochet, many stitches mimic knitting, offering plenty of design freedom. In this class, artist, author, and professor Lisa Solomon teaches the foundations of Tunisian crochet through four essential stitches. You'll create 16 unique stitch-pattern swatches as you build confidence with the technique. The resulting fabric is dense and cozy, making it ideal for blankets, pillows, and warm garments.

Here’s what you’ll need:
- DK weight yarn - Lisa uses Bread & Butter Pretzel in four colors
- Tunisian crochet hook - 5m or 5.5mm
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- For blocking: foam blocking mats, no-rust T-pins, blocking combs, iron with steam
- Measuring tape
- Yarn swift and ball winder (optional)

The lessons were clear, well-paced, and interesting, and Lisa is a good teacher. I only had some difficulty when dark colored yarn was used for demonstrating the more advanced stitches- even on full screen, the stitches all merged together and it was hard to tell just where the hook went or what was happening with the loops. For example, on the Wave Stitch video, the greens both appeared navy, and the light colors both appeared off-white, so it was not always easy to follow the instructions, especially with the green yarns.
