Make Over a Denim Jacket
This was an enjoyable class, something I may want to with my nieces as a fun project. I do wish there were more examples, but I'm sure there lots online. Thank you for this class, Lesley!
Ware mentioned a variety of mediums and methods that a crafter could use to customize their clothing, along with more sustainable sources to find clothing to work on (thrift stores). Most importantly, she emphasizes how fashion can boost mental health and self expression.
To anyone reading this comment: anyone interested in needlework or embroidery can also make their own patches. It's a time-consuming process, but some find it worthwhile. For a quicker self-made patch, take some fabric scraps (like an old T-Shirt), mix together fabric softener and acrylic paint (I use a 1:4 to 1:6 ratio) and paint a patch! Bleach printing looks really cool too, but it only shows up well on fabric blends that are primarily cotton, so check your fabric.
