Join Twinkie Chan and Courtney Cerruti for a delightfully wicked Halloween craft. Learn how to make vintage-inspired Halloween buckets with expressive faces using paper maché and paint. From grinning jack-o-lanterns to hissing cats to spooky skulls, they draw inspiration from the decor of Halloweens past to transform plastic treat buckets into one-of-a-kind creations. This class was originally recorded live September 17, 2025.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Plastic pumpkin bucket
- For paper maché, you can use either newspaper strips and white glue thinned with water, CelluClay, warm water and palette knife, or paper clay
- For priming the plastic bucket: ModPodge, Elmer’s glue, or masking tape
- Acrylic paint in orange, black, red, white - whatever you like
- Paint brushes in various sizes
- Paper to protect your work surface
- Small amounts of thin cardboard and masking tape if you want to add ears (optional)
- Posca paint pens for details (optional)
- Black wire to replace the plastic bucket handle (optional)

Great tutorial and the hosts had lots of fun creating these vintage Halloween buckets. They have inspired me to try a new medium, which I have wanted to try but didn't know how to start.
